On April 1, 2016, T-Rex Corporation announced it was appraised as fully compliant at Maturity Level 3 with the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development and Services (CMMI-DEV, CMMI-SVC) Version 1.3.
This rating is achieved by companies that have established well-defined, repeatable, and effective organizational standards for project management, software engineering, services and quality assurance while maintaining a focus on continuous process improvement. The organization’s set of standard processes, which is the basis for maturity level 3, is established and improved over time.
Compliance with the process areas prescribed by SEI CMMI Maturity Level 3 was appraised using the CMMI Standard Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI). The SCAMPI method involves the examination of many types of objective evidence, as well as interviews with senior corporate leadership, program managers, quality assurance personnel, and related organization and project employees to demonstrate that standard processes are being followed and continually improved. The evaluation was conducted by an independent SEI-authorized lead appraiser from Process Works Inc., an SEI partner based in Rockville, MD.
The CMMI Level 3 appraisal was preceded by the company’s ISO 9001: 2008 initial certification in March of 2015; this laid a strong foundation of processes and continual improvement methodologies.
“By adopting CMMI Level 3 practices, T-Rex will steadily become more competitive, enabling us to deliver better value to our customers. This is absolutely critical to our growth strategy and I look forward to working with the team to continue developing standards and measurements across the company and driving continuous improvement,” said Trevor Wilby, President and CEO of T-Rex Corporation.
