T-Rex Partners with Patriot Technology Training Center on Events

As part of our commitment to supporting Children and Youth, T-Rex has partnered with Patriots Technology Center (TTC) on an e-mentoring program as well as on three different STEM events this spring.

On May 4th we supported the Pre-Mother’s Day Mother & Daughter STEM Career Competition where girls participated with their mothers/grandmothers/aunts/guardians to help them to do a three-page research paper on one of the ten STEM careers.

On May 23rd, we participated as judges in a Cybersecurity competition that facilitated the exploration of science and technology through research and interactive learning. In this competition, students were partnered with a mentor and we judged a four-page research paper, a brochure, a poster board display and a functional website. They also did an oral presentation. Thank you to James Williams and Syed Hussain, for supporting this event.

On June 8th we will participate in the National Security Executives and Professionals Association (NSEPA) Summit.  During this event we will emcee a Jeopardy game with the student participants.  Thank you Ama Ihim for your support of this event.

“Patriots TTC brings us a unique and local opportunity for our employees to promote STEM education. Employees especially enjoy the chance to mentor children contemplating a career in STEM by sharing their work experiences and educational backgrounds. The kids have great questions and are eager to learn”, says Valerie Utsey, Chief Human Resources Officer of T-Rex Solutions.

“The employees of T-Rex, and other local businesses that share their time and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged youth are today’s heroes for tomorrow’s progress. Our students are fortunate to have the unique opportunity of meeting, shadowing, interning and sometimes even working part-time with outstanding role models.  T-Rex involvement has more impact than any textbook or instructor could ever have.  It takes a village, but together we can change the economic forecast for historically low-income communities”, says Thurmond Jones, President, Patriots TTC
